Rostov-on-Don to Volgograd, Russia Monday, July 5th

We headed out from Rostov-on-Don for Volgograd (formerly Stalingrad) and it was once again beautiful. Somewhere the riders separated from the support vehicle and by the time we hit the restaurant for lunch, we figured they missed the turn and were headed straight for Moscow (another 3 day ride on it's own). We saw horse and cart (like in Romania) as well as a lady selling smoked fish from a bike where we had lunch (I had goulash others had pork kabobs). After lunch, we stopped at a gas station so I could go the bathroom. The outhouse you see is not where I went. Behind a bush was more preferable (I don't even have a sense of smell yet you could smell it from inside the gas station). The guys waited out of the sun amongst the vines of a tree. The road to Volgograd was two lane (east/west) Once we got to the hotel, we were all sweating like pigs but unsure whether the support vehicle would arrive with our gear to shower and change. However, within half an hour, they were there with another adventure of their own where they got there somehow by the fields (huh??). Anway, we strolled the circle in front of our hotel (pic of Carmen and Joe) and went to a nice place for dinner (I had caesar salad and borsch once again - it truly is good here). And now we are at today where we toured the museum where one of the biggest wars took place in Volvograd (aka Stalingrad) and relaxing getting caught up on email.
Oh, there's a shot of Mick our tour leader talking with a group at the gas station. They had come out when we arrived and wanted pictures of them taken with us (most smelled of strong vodka) and they gave Mick an ice cream and CD of music from Magadan once we left. Pretty comical.
