Samarkand to Tashkent
In the past week we have travelled from Samarkand to Bukhara and back to Tashkent, Uzbekistan. We had three days in Samarkand where we visited Amir Tumir's (also known as Tamerlane) burial place. Without going into all the history, he was a very significant person for all of Uzbekistan and has direct lineage to Ghengis Khan (sorry if spelt incorrectly). The roads travelling between all these places have been highways (smooth and rough). From this point forward we will stay two nights in homestays when we re-enter Kazakhstan on our way to Almaty. We stay two nights there and then we are off camping once again and into Russia before coming back to Almaty. I believe we will be hitting off the beaten path once we get to Mongolia but so far we haven't seen any extreme riding. So, if you don't get any blogs for a short time please know that it will be forthcoming. Until then.........

Good to see your blog again, Jack. You have a lot of hard-riding ahead of you when you get to Mongolia, I would think. Hope you aren't riding int the scorching heat. I can't imagine how warm you get when the sun is blazing down on you. More than half way done now - that is amazing. I am sure that you will go without any internet access.
ReplyDeleteIt is actually a cool day here today. Temperature has gone down quite a bit today. It is actually very cool tonight.
Always good to read your blog, Jack. Mom
